THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
A midget Belmont "Jewel" model A-5D118 in beautiful fully restored condition This radio was made by Belmont, and was also marketed as the Coronado "Jewel" model 43-8160 by Gamble Department Stores. I have seen several Coronado branded models, and a few Western Royal branded sets also made by Belmont, but the Belmont branded model must be very scarce. I believe all these radio models are identical, except the Belmont model has a Belmont label on the front and a label. It's nicknamed the "Jewel" because of its colorful dial. The radio had no cracks or breaks, so no repairs. It's an extremely small radio, only about 8"W x 6"H x 4-1/2"D. The chassis has been checked by a pro and is playing well and picking up all my local AM stations clearly with its antenna wire attached. The tuning is very sensitive. The original metal back is on the set. I think this is just about as good an example of this model as you will find. Even though it's often described as a post-War radio, Radiophile.com makes a good argument that it's actually a Belmont pre-War model. |
