Emerson AX-212 w/Ingraham Cabinet (1938)
(wood tube table radio)

Emerson AX-212 w/Ingraham Cabinet (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The design of this highly collectible completely restored Emerson Bullseye from 1938 has been attributed to Alexis de Sakhnoffsky, who also designed the Emerson "Mae West" model BD-197. The case was made by the Ingraham Cabinet Company of Bristol CT, who had developed an outstanding capability for making beautiful cabinets in complex shapes, describing the process as "Stay-Bent" construction. This case has walnut veneer with four inlay red stripes across the top and sides of the cabinet. The original purchase price of the radio was $19.95. Emerson claimed in their advertising for the radio that it used "a miracle sound chamber, that equalizes and naturalizes tone throughout the room." The radio incorporates a five-tube super-heterodyne chassis, and it plays as good as it looks. There is a perfect replacement back on the set, and it has its original knobs and Ingraham tag on the bottom. A midget at 9-1/2"W x 5"H x 5"D.
