Majestic introduced their Art Deco model 5T mirrored clock radio from 1939. James F. Reynolds may have invented the first alarm clock radio in the 1940's, but certainly not the first clock radio. The Majestic model 5T has to be one of the most unusual clock radios ever made. It is small cube shaped, and when the radio is turned off, it appears to be just a clock with a front mirror background. Turn the radio on, and the two-way mirror reveals the back-lit radio dial. Unlike modern clock radios, the Majestic clock has no alarm or wake up features. It's just a clock and it has to be hand started by spinning the small metal knob at the center. The speaker faces out on the backside of the molded radio's back. The clock is working fine, and the radio is playing clearly, picking up all my local stations. The case is in really nice condition with no major cosmetic issues like cracks or repairs, just a few paint chips, primarily on the back. Not very many survived. About 8"W x 8"H x 6"D.
