Zenith 6-D-410 (1939)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

Zenith 6-D-410 (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This pre-War Machine Age 1939 Zenith is a very hard to find classic Art Deco radio, in a one-of-a-kind "Turbine" design. The radio has been completely restored, and is working and playing well, picking up all my local AM stations clearly. The case is in mint condition with no cracks, chips, or cosmetic issues in its fragile Bakelite case. There is a legend that accompanies this radio. No one is sure if it's true or not, but it sure makes a great story! According to John Bryant’s anthology of the Zenith company, "Zenith, The Glory Years," the President, Commander McDonald, became interested in the possibility of using Bakelite in molding radio chasses as well as the cases. Also, Zenith engineers decided to invert the chasses in the case on this model. Technicians in radio repair shops started complaining because they had difficulty doing any repairs due to the fragility of the chasses. The story, true or not, was that Zenith tried to recall these models and destroyed many. They don't come up for sale too often. Anyway, If it was good enough for Clark Gable (shown with the pushbutton model), it should be good enough for you! About 8"W x 6"H x 5"D. Shipping will be $26 by UPS to anywhere in the USA.
