RCA 9TX-50 "Little Nipper" (1939)
(wood tube table radio)

RCA 9TX-50 "Little Nipper" (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here is another beautifully designed RCA Little Nipper radio from that great 1939 Age of Deco. The label on the back of the set says it all: "Magic Voice, Magic Loop, Television & Victrola Plug-In, Distance Antenna Connection, Underwriters' Approval (Guards Your Safety), plus Edge Lighted Dial, 1 Police Band, Vernier Tuning, 5 Tube Superheterodyne and Standard Reception." Who could ask for more? The story, and I have no idea if true, is that the 9X series of Little Nipper models were built by Detrola for RCA. But they sure have a handsome classic design whoever made them. The case on this set has been professionally refinished in toning lacquers, the chassis has been gone over completely, and the radio is playing well picking up all my local AM stations. The grill cloth is original and of course the back. The knobs are perfect replacements to the originals. The dial glass has just a couple of very tiny hardly noticeable little paint chips, and the dial looks great at night backlit by the dial lamp. About 11"W x 7-1/2"H x 6-1/2"D. Shipping anywhere in the USA will run about $28.
