Zenith 6-D-311 (1939)
(plastic tube table radio)

Zenith 6-D-311 (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The 1930s marked the beginning of an era of industrial design when technology and design were combined into art forms. The year 1939 produced many beautiful classic radios, but none better than this Zenith 6D311 set, an icon of the Art Deco period. It was designed by Robert Budlong, one of Zenith's most prolific engineers, and is a classic in any radio collection. The radio has to its credit an appearance in one of MGM's Andy Hardy movies from 1940, "STRIKE UP THE BAND" with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. This beautiful set in swirled walnut Bakelite was described in ads as Franciscan brown and sold for $14.95. The case is in excellent condition, with no cracks, chips, or other cosmetic issues. It plays fine with just an extended antenna wire, and even better with a link to an external antenna. The dial light works, and it has a perfect replacement back on the set. About 10"W x 6"H x 7"D. A classic radio co-staring with Judy Garland! Who could ask for more?
