Zenith 6-D-411 (1940)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

Zenith 6-D-411 (1940)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This pre-War Machine Age Zenith is a very hard to find classic Art Deco radio, in a one-of-a-kind Turbine design. The radio has been completely restored into its original light green metallic color. The one-piece Bakelite cabinet is molded like an upside-down bowl. The chassis is installed through the bottom of the case. There is a high-low tone switch on the front. Legend has it that Commander McDonald, the company's founder, pioneered making the chassis for this model out of Bakelite, as well as the case. There are legends that Zenith considered recalling the sets due to the fragility of the chassis and complaints from repairmen. Hence, there are not an abundance of these radios remaining. This radio has been completely checked by my tech, and it is playing and picking up all my local AM stations. The dial light is working. The case is in excellent condition without any cosmetic damage. Click here to read about the set. This is a true part of Zenith radio history. Picture included of Clark Gable with the pushbutton model 6D414. About 8"W x 6"H x 5"D.
