RCA 9TX-50A "Little Nipper" (1939)
(wood tube table radio)
|
Here is another beautifully designed RCA "Little Nipper" radio from 1939, that great Age of Deco. The label on the bottom of the case shows it all: "RCA His Masters Voice Logo, the RCA Superheterodyne Label with the complete RCA model number, and the Underwriters Lab Approval Label for safety". The story I have heard is that the chassis for 9X series of RCA 1939 Little Nipper models were built by Detrola for RCA. But they sure have a handsome classic look whoever designed them. The case on this set has been professionally refinished in toning lacquers, the chassis has been gone over completely by a pro, and the radio is playing well picking up all my local AM stations. The grille cloth and back are original, as well as the marble swirled knobs. The dial glass is a brand new perfect replacement to the original, and the dial looks great at night backlit by its lamp. About 11"W x 7-1/2"H x 6-1/2"D. Shipping anywhere in the USA will run about $28. $265.00. (1150929)
